Do we need legacies to validate our lives ?

I read with much amusement as to how our beloved PM is in a real hurry to pass some so called "reforms" to validate his stay in power the past few years. Funny how some people do absolute nothing for the people the last few years and then suddenly wake up to the harsh reality that they may be no longer in power by March 2009. So what do they do..... ? They start their so called reform bills to be tabled in parliament with a fervent hope that their previous stay in power is somehow validated now. This is their so called "legacy". It is their hope that future generations will remember them for their so called legacies ! Absolute rubbish is what I say! The so called reform bills are ill thought off and are mere white washing something that has rusted and corroded for a long time now. No amount of white paint and perfume scenting is going to wash away the rot and stink.

You want reforms Mr PM ? You want to leave behind a legacy ? In my books this is easily done...!

All you need to do is to abolish the ISA for starters. Sack all your incompetent Ministers, I can name you more than a few should you so require. Then clear out the rot and stink in the PDRM. Make the ACA truly independent and not beholden to the PM's office or the AG. Ensure that the AG's office is really up to the mark and not merely a tool of the politicians in this country. Make the newspapers independent. Arrest anyone who is an idiot enough to make racist remarks. I can go on should you so require, but I will not....as I am sure my pleas will fall on deaf rears.

Mr PM your present attempts at leaving a "legacy" is nothing more than a bad joke!

What's up with the cops ?

What's up boys ? Nothing to do is it ?

What is wrong with the boys in blue these days ? It appears that even cycling bicycles will get you detained by the cops these days, as members of JERIT found out! JERIT members are having a cycling campaign to highlight human rights issues. Well what's wrong with that lah ? Our boys in blue these days are very free I think. Nothing to do is it ? Tell you boys what... go lah find some real police work to do. Hassling people who are not in any way disturbing the peace is plain STUPID! Go find Nurin's killer or something. Go prevent crime or something. Stop being a pest and a menace to civil society!No wonder cops get all the brick bats these days. They are doing things that are of no use to anyone.

Who are you boys taking orders from huh ?

Ignorance or plain stupidity Mr Minister ?

The tragedy at Bukit Antarabangsa is further compounded when you have a minister (supposedly in charge of Housing and Local Government) who talks absolute rubbish. In fact if I had been the PM the very first thing I would have done was to sack this stupid man. The reason why I am upset is simply this . This genius of a man had the gall to say that the "land slide that caused the deaths and destruction of the houses at BA was NOT CAUSED BY HUMAN ERROR"! This genius of a man also says that the landslide was caused by "NATURAL FACTORS"! Idiot ! What an idiot ! I am sorry for using such language here but the fact of the matter is this....this man has no business being a Minister. This man is an idiot! To blame mother nature when clearly it was clearly man's greed and lust that had caused this disaster is plain stupid.

It must be noted that the findings nor even investigations have yet to be concluded in to this disaster at this point in time. It is therefore amazing and rather very strange that the Minister had already concluded that Mother Nature is to be held responsible for this disaster!

The learned Minister further adds insult to injury when he says "Nevertheless , the Ministry will conduct a probe through DISCUSSIONS with several agencies..." I rest my case. This man is worse than that Samy Toll guy!

Looks like some things never change in Bolehland!

Tragedy at Bukit Antarabangsa (2)

Work goes on as usual here !

I took the above picture at about 1.30 pm on the day of the land slide. It was taken at the Laman Oakleaf houses some a few hundred meters away from ground zero. At the time this picture was taken there were a bee line of residents affected by the land slide walking right in front of this house. The distraught residents were walking by this house with their bags and other prized belongings right in front of this house. Many had tears in their eyes as they trudged past.

It was amazing how some people didn't have a care as to the goings on around them. As you can see..... the workmen in this picture went about their jobs without any care either for their own safety or even out of respect and concern for their fellow men. Simply amazing. I walked away feeling absolutely disgusted by what I saw.

Is this what the world has come to ? Sad. I also read that there were allegations made by the residents that the police instead of rescuing/assisting the affected residents were actually looting the place instead! Simply amazing! If these allegations are true....I am dumbstruck here. I think words fail me here. Sad....am really sad.

Have we Malaysians lost our sense of compassion ? Are we so motivated by worldly possessions and economic gains that all else matters not ?

Tragedy at Bukit Antarabangsa

HUMAN LIVES LOST AGAIN

I received a sms from my friend Patrick this morning. It read that a landslide had occurred at the Bukit Antarabangsa area. Patrick also sent me another sms that he was worried for a friend of ours who was living in the area and that he was going up there to check on him and his family. I then called up Patrick and said that I wanted to go along. What we saw up there was really sad and heart wrenching. It appears that some of the residents had lost their lives. They never knew what hit them. Many residents are reportedly still missing and their fates not known.Many are also reported to be injured.The pictures above and below I took from my mobile phone. The picture above shows someones car on the roof of a house.

The front porch of this house had collapsed. Even the fencing wall separating the house from its neighbour had fallen. This previously majestic bungalow is now just reduced to a pile of worthless rubble.

The Army was roped in to assist the disabled. This soldier had carried this disabled man up and down the hill to safety without a care for his own self.


Rescue operations were also conducted via helicopter. Some of the residents had to be airlifted out as the roads were inaccessible.

Mother nature unleashed her mighty force.Even the tarred road was not spared.

We finally met up with our mutual friend Amran and was relieved that he and his family were ok. They were safe but have been evacuated from the area as the house they reside in was on dangerous hilly grounds. The authorities were afraid of more earth movement and land slides. As a precautionary measure they had to be evacuated.

As we were talking, our friend then said that another of our friend was also living in the area. Mr Frank and his wife live nearby the area directly affected by the land slide. We immediately called Mr Frank and were relieved that he too was ok but was still in his condo. Initially he had been reluctant to leave his condo but eventually relented to Patrick's pleas of evacuating.

As I write this I cant help but feel saddened by this tragedy. How long are we still going to plunder and rape our hills ? Have we not learnt our lessons from the past ? Are we going to continue to ignore mother nature and her mighty force ? How many more lives are going to be lost in the future in the pursuit of that exclusive, scenic hilly view from our garden terrace ?

Very sad today. May all who lost their lives attain peace.

Ha-Ha!!! Good one sir!

Ha-Ha!! I like that joke sir.....You funny lah!

I like what the IGP was reported to have said yesterday. He says politicians must learn to obey the law otherwise the criminals will also not obey the law! Duh...? Since when do the criminals obey the law ? That is why they are criminals....You see otherwise they wont be criminals would they ? Too complexed for you huh Sir?

Anyway the point that the IGP was trying to make was, to advise all politicians not to go round demonstrating. He says that this is "destructive" behaviour. Sorry lah Mr IGP.....I cant disagree more with you on this score. I tell you what "destructive" behaviour is. It is when politicians continue to spew their venom and pit the races against one another...that is destructive. It is also destructive when the so called leaders make utter fools of themselves whilst debating in Parliament. When there is corruption and breaches of trust and no one is held accountable... that is destructive!

In my books when some individuals fed up with the current stale and rotten affairs of state decide to have peaceful demonstrations in some padang somewhere, is ok with me. Nothing wrong here. It is a right enshrined in the Constitution to assemble peacefully. Funny when only certain individuals are arrested for this "destructive" act. Mr IGP, how many demonstrators did your boys arrest when the bar council had their recent forum on conversions? How many were arrested when the Bar council had their forum on the ISA the other day? Maybe a case of double standards sir ?

I tell you what Mr IGP.....try going for breakfast in the mamak shop near the PGA headquarters at Cheras (Batu 9). The shop is patronised mostly by the boys in blue there. Despite big signs in Bahasa Malaysia (and in red) stating "DILARANG MEROKOK" you can see our boys in blue happily puffing on their cigarettes there! The police is exempted from the law in such shops is it Sir ? Don't take my word Sir.....go there and see for yourself ! So if the police cant/wont obey the law, will the average Samy, Tajuddin and Chor on the street then will ?

So fast one!

Wah..........lu manyak cepatlah!

I read with amusement as to how cekap the POLIS were in grilling Datuk CSL for allegedly making some sensitive remarks on the "Ketuanan Melayu" issue. Wah..... so efficient lah you fellas. Wah some more I hear you people need to interview him for 40 minutes. Wah so good lah you boys! Just because some fellow out there make report on this "sensitive" issue you boys in blue jump and run to investigate.

Anyway...The point I am making is this ..... the "ketuanan Melayu" term is not used anywhere in the Federal Constitution. I acknowledge the fact that there are some special rights for the Malays and the Bumiputras of Sabah and Sarawak accorded in the Federal Constitution. There are some special rights as to the Malay Royalty and the religion. I think no one is questioning those rights now. It is part of the constitution and we have to respect those provisions.

But what is this "Ketuanan Melayu " ? Where is it stated in the law of the land that there is this "tuan" concept ? I don't like this term at all. It implies that there is a master and slave relationship between the races in Malaysia. It is terms like these that contribute to racial polarisation between the various races in Malaysia.

I feel sad that after 50 years of independence there are still some of us who still harbour such ridicilously antiquated views. Sad!

Datuk Shah R K coming to town!

Looks like Datuk's coming to town!

Datuk S R K is coming to town to receive his "knighthood" as he has described it! Aiyoh! Sorry to pour cold water on your "knighthood" but I must tell you this Datuk....the decision to give you this "knighthood" is just a joke! Absolute bollocks I say!

On this matter I believe HRH the Sultan of Selangor has done us Malaysians proud I think. This year His Highness has decided not to award any such awards! Daulat Tuanku! I am with you Tuanku. These days the awards are just a joke! We Malaysians don't find it amusing any more. We had enough of the rogues and what have you not being awarded with these awards. The Melaka state's insistence is just another example of this being the case.

Maybe someone should come out with the "Nenekship" award ? Why is it that the awards are always masculine in nature ? Sexist you say ?

Some people never change !

Some people just never know when not to talk!

It is rather sad to note that the Jerlun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir had remarked that vernacular schools should be abolished. But wait.... now he say that he has been misquoted. He now says that... "I said that the system should be one. I don't think the issue of closing school arises.That is the last thing I want". I don't know about you, but if you have only "one" system wouldn't that necessarily mean that there are no other school systems left. If that is the case would it mean that there would no longer be vernacular schools ? Hello... apa you cakap ni ? When in a tight spot confuse everyone is it ? So very clever la you!

Some people say that it is because of the vernacular schools that Malaysia is being more polarised today! I say bollocks to all who say that. Look the vernacular school system is not the reason why Malaysia is turning into a more polarised society today. There are many reasons for this. I would be looking very silly if I were to attempt to list every possible reason here. I tell you what...I will be bold enough to say one of the main reasons that Malaysia is more polarised today than ever before is because of stupid politicians that open their mouths and speak absolute nonsense every time they open their mouths! These politicians are still living in the dark ages and mind you they are still advocating their ridiculously absurd time warped policies even now! Somehow they fail to realise that there is a new Malaysia today. This new Malaysia has new ideas and aspirations that clearly rejects the racist policies of the past. My dear politicians ...please wake up and smell the bunga raya! There is a new dawn and you sad relics of the past are in the way of a better Malaysia for all; irrespective of race, creed and religion!

Elegant silence from the Bar ?

I am back. A little late in updating this blog......sorry ya! Anyway I am back!

I am starting off by saying that the "elegant silence" by the Bar regarding Tan Sri Azmi's alleged bribery episode in the past is most disappointing. As a member of the Bar I would have thought that the Bar would have taken a more vigorous stand against the new CJ's alleged statements made to the press. I am reproducing here the response by the Bar president's press statement regarding this issue.

The Bar Council is not unfamiliar with criticism, calls for the resignation of its members and other attacks against it.
A few weeks ago, the Bar Council was said to be too political with an implication that we were pro-Opposition. Today a member of the Opposition has launched an attack against us calling for our members to resign over two issues with an implication that we are pro-Government. This in itself evidences our independence.
In respect of the matter of the Chief Justice having allegedly stated that he had bribed court staff when he was in practice, the Chief Justice subsequently issued a denial on 9 November 2008. We have not heard nor seen any evidence to contradict this denial and it would be wholly inappropriate and unfair, in these circumstances, for the Bar Council to take the position suggested by Mr Karpal Singh. This accords with the best traditions of the Bar not to prejudge any issue and to afford everyone a fair chance to be heard.
As for the dinner held in April 2008, the Bar Council viewed this as a positive step forward in the reform of the Judiciary as it was at this dinner that there was a public acknowledgement by the Government of the injustice of the 1988 crisis upon the dismissed Judges. We viewed this and other announcements made by the Prime Minister as meaningful and positive steps towards judicial reform which we believe are critical.

I am sorry Dato, but I cant disagree with you more here. The question is... Did he bribe or did he not ? Did he make those statements or not in the first instance ? I am of the humble opinion that the statements/clarifications that the CJ made later was not very clear and ambiguous at best. I believe that the post of the CJ should only be occupied by someone who has been cleaner than clean( past, present or even in the future). Dato ...no one is prejudging the CJ..I think what is being sought here is for investigations to be commenced against the CJ. If he is cleared then that is the end of it. But to say just because he had "clarified" the matter is utter bollocks! If that were the case all we need to do is ask for "clarifications" from all the individuals charged in court for alleged criminal acts. If they deny the allegations then that's the end of the matter is it ? Sorry Dato I am not with you on this score.

As for the dinner hosted by the Bar and paid by the Government.... sorry I am equally not with you on this score. We are an independent body. Period. We do not need any one to pay for our dinners, be it opposition or the government. We are apolitical. And that it. No compromises here. Your feeble attempt in trying to justify the ends is simply disappointing. The ends do not justify the means. If you have not noticed all the talk about reforms to the judiciary is just that...JUST TALK!
