I received a sms from my friend Patrick this morning. It read that a landslide had occurred at the Bukit Antarabangsa area. Patrick also sent me another sms that he was worried for a friend of ours who was living in the area and that he was going up there to check on him and his family. I then called up Patrick and said that I wanted to go along. What we saw up there was really sad and heart wrenching. It appears that some of the residents had lost their lives. They never knew what hit them. Many residents are reportedly still missing and their fates not known.Many are also reported to be injured.The pictures above and below I took from my mobile phone. The picture above shows someones car on the roof of a house.
The front porch of this house had collapsed. Even the fencing wall separating the house from its neighbour had fallen. This previously majestic bungalow is now just reduced to a pile of worthless rubble.
The Army was roped in to assist the disabled. This soldier had carried this disabled man up and down the hill to safety without a care for his own self.
Rescue operations were also conducted via helicopter. Some of the residents had to be airlifted out as the roads were inaccessible.
Mother nature unleashed her mighty force.Even the tarred road was not spared.We finally met up with our mutual friend Amran and was relieved that he and his family were ok. They were safe but have been evacuated from the area as the house they reside in was on dangerous hilly grounds. The authorities were afraid of more earth movement and land slides. As a precautionary measure they had to be evacuated.
As we were talking, our friend then said that another of our friend was also living in the area. Mr Frank and his wife live nearby the area directly affected by the land slide. We immediately called Mr Frank and were relieved that he too was ok but was still in his condo. Initially he had been reluctant to leave his condo but eventually relented to Patrick's pleas of evacuating.
As I write this I cant help but feel saddened by this tragedy. How long are we still going to plunder and rape our hills ? Have we not learnt our lessons from the past ? Are we going to continue to ignore mother nature and her mighty force ? How many more lives are going to be lost in the future in the pursuit of that exclusive, scenic hilly view from our garden terrace ?
Very sad today. May all who lost their lives attain peace.

evrytime this landslide happen, some of the top flers will come out and saythe same fxxxing statement : we must review all hillside development. And yet, all this happen and happen and happen again and again and again.. how many more innocent lifes needed for someone really do something?
Look at Hong KOng? they have typhoon 12345678.. and yet so many of their projects are just next the the hill... how many time we see serious land slide thee like ours?
Another thing, accidents happen on highways involving our express busses. same shit happen.. this people will say : we must carry out investigation on those buses.. Hello Mister Minister, no nid to investigate, just one fine day drive yourself on highways, i can bet you, you can easily spotted how many of these xpress busses overook your vihicle while you are already driving at 120km per hour.. what to investigate? punish those bus company to the maximum, dont worry abvout whether these buses is state ownded or politically connected. Jail thse drivers... how mnay more innocent lifes needed?
I can be politician also.. just talk a lot without saying anything.
