Why cant it be just Malaysian unity ?

You make up your own mind as to what this picture represents.

There are certain politicians these days that talk openly about wanting to forge better Malay unity. It appears that UMNO wants to sit down with its political nemesis PAS so that it can lead to better unity amongst the Malays. The argument here being the better the Malays are united the better Malaysia will be in the near future. Me just say... Duh!!!!

I cant disagree more with this sort of reasoning. After 51 years of independence why are we still talking in terms of Malay, Indian, Chinese or whatever, whenever we talk about unity and progress ? Why can we just say Malaysians? Why can we just identify ourselves as simply Malaysians first ? Is it really that difficult to do ?

I would have thought that in a world that is shrinking by the minute we would have matured into thinking that we Malaysians would have to work together to move ahead; especially so in the present difficult economic climate. I would have also thought that our politicians would be emphasising and reemphasising the need for better unity amongst all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion. There are no two ways about it. Our survival as a nation depends on it. I dare say that it would be simply suicidal if our politicians fail to realise this very important fact. We as a nation are doomed to certain failure if we fail to address this matter with an open heart and complete sincerity.

Strangely I cant help but make this remark in closing. When PAS works closely with DAP the MCA jumps up and down making all sorts of remarks. Strangely when UMNO makes moves to forge better ties with PAS the MCA is suddenly very quiet. What happened MCA ? Lost your voice or simply being very obedient ?

Moving on to the Mercedes Benz fiasco up north, I spoke to a friend who has been driving a Perdana V6 since 2004. I asked him what would he have spent on maintainece of his car since 2004. He swears that he has spent more or less about RM10,000.00 on maintaining his car since 2004. His car has clocked something like 130,000 odd KM todate. when I told him the figures bandied about by the Terengganu State government, this was his exact words.... ABSURD!!!

Need I say more ?

Cheers,

M V Nathan

I would think we need to set up more Muhibbah companies not bumiputera companies to conquer the economies of India and China. By a new NEP, get the Malays, Chinese and Indians into one company and make them work together with the common goal to accumulate wealth for themselves and the nation. After all money is what binds people together these days so get the three musketeers together and conquer the Asian economy. Enough of local politics of race which is after all about who gets the share of the cake. Why concentrate on a small cake here when there is a very large cake out there? Together we stand divided we fall! One for all and all for one! That should be our new rukun negara principle.
