Free R P K !

Free him! He was only speaking his mind !

It is rather sad to know the fate of Raja Petra Kamaruddin. Very sad indeed! The man has been detained simply because his views differed from the views of the powers that be. His so called crime was that he had a mind and that, that mind was capable of thinking! He was different. His views were different. He had views that many possibly shared but never even dreamt of saying it out loud. As some agreed with him there were many whom did not share his views as well.... sadly the ones that disagreed with him had chosen to incarcerate the man at Kamunting.

The facts are that he was someone with many views/opinions. His views more often than not differed with the views/opinions of the powers that be, here in Malaysia. In Malaysia that is something that is not encouraged. Here in Malaysia that could be deemed to be a crime. A crime that needs no trial. So now poor RPK has to do all his thinking within the confines of Kamunting Camp without being able to relate his thoughts to anyone.

Just like how George Orwell had written in his novel "1984" .... Big Brother is always watching! And just like in that novel we now have the "thought police". We are now subject to the "thought police" monitoring our views and opinions. The moment we have differing views and opinions we are deemed to be a national threat. We are said to be threats to national security. We are then a threat to peace in the land of Boleh! All because of differing views and opinions!

As threats, you are then removed from society under the name of peace, harmony, security and all that mumbo jumbo that our politicians happily mouth off. And yes, of course they would use the much loved ISA on you and incarcerate you away from your family and loved ones. This they do without any trial whatsoever. All at the mere stroke of a pen. The moment the learned Home Minister signs that holiday papers for two years ..... then off you go to the place that reforms you to be a better citizen of the country capable of contributing to nation building! The period may in some cases extend to 6 years or more. No one is sure. It may even be indefinite! Yes you heard me right indefinite. You see, so long as the Home Minister in his infinite wisdom decides that you are still a threat to the nation then your stay in Kamunting gets extended. And yes, all by the stroke of a pen. No trials, no evidence being produced and no witnesses being cross examined to verify the truth of whatever they may say against you.

Sad, really very sad! The ISA must go! It must be abolished! No two ways about it. Free RPK ! He was only speaking his mind.
